The Decatur County Justice Center includes sheriff’s department offices, a 9-1-1 emergency center, a booking area, and a sally port. The Facility houses 60 beds (48 males, 12 female). The facility has 24,741 square feet tailored with economy of structure, function and operations all within a $4.9 million budget. The building cost $201.80 per sq. ft. excluding 9-1-1 radio tower and equipment. The 9-1-1 center structure is designed to FEMA tornado resistant standards and is provided with emergency generator adjacent to the radio tower within the security fencing perimeter.

The Central Control room allows full visual supervision of inmates from one location. Exercise yards are separated visually for male and female inmates but utilize security fencing on the outside. The pre-engineered metal building system provided the most economical building frame system and roofing while integrating the more expensive masonry security walls and metal ceilings only where needed.
