TLM Associates, Inc. was hired by the Jackson Madison County School System to implement a portion of the Vision 20/20 work needed to be completed prior to the 2016-2017 school year. One of the projects to be completed was the renovation to the existing JCM Annex campus. TLM Associates, Inc. was retained to provide schematic design, preliminary cost estimating, interior design, construction administration, and close out services for this project.
The JCM Annex campus was constructed in the mid-70s and was originally designed as a classroom and auto-mechanics and wood shop facility. Over the years, the classroom portion maintained its usage, while the shop space was used as surplus storage for the entire school system. The project scope was to provide an entry lobby that evokes a collegiate atmosphere, a cafeteria, and wellness space with ADA compliant showers and locker areas for the students. This renovation included the abatement of lead paint, some new lighting and the reuse of all existing T-8 fixtures, new glass windows to replace the garage doors, new flooring, acoustic treatment to the ceiling, and a new college lobby space to encourage student group activities.
