The Jackson Energy Authority (JEA) administration facility is located in an existing building in downtownJackson, TN. This existing facility served as the main headquarters facility for decades and has been a fixture in Jackson until it flooded years back and the building was gutted down to the structure.When JEA decided to relocate some of its departments into this facility as a process of restructuring some of its operations, TLM was selected to plan and design renovations.
The desire was to recreate the interior of this facility with an upgraded and modern design, including energy efficiency and security as two main priorities. All aspects of the building systems were evaluated in the renovation including envelope design, new roof system, new HVAC system, and all new electrical services. This building now houses their human resource department, IT department, and a call center. This facility still has enough unfinished space for growth or the addition of another department in the future.
JEA Training Center
The JEA Warehouse and Distribution Site was hit by a tornado that demolished an existing warehouse facility. This event created the opportunity for JEA to construct a much needed training facility. Used for internal training, this training building is also available for outside agencies to utilize for training or seminar events.
This 14,000 sq. ft. facility has a tiered training room with fixed seminar seating for 85 people. There is a small computer training room for 10 people, a small classroom for 30 people, and a large seminar or dining area for approximately 180 occupants. This facility also has a full commercial kitchen for catering events. The building was constructed with a steel frame, and utilized brick veneer and has both a flat, white membrane roof, as well as a curved standing seam metal roof. The interior of the facility offers a very industrial design with stained concrete floors, and open structure design in the tiered training space.
